Sudoku Masters conducted the first-ever, comprehensive Sudoku Class at the Learning Annex in San Diego, 2006, where we introduced the SudoKNOWtm method of solving Sudoku puzzles. This was the only known Sudoku class -- world-wide -- outside than the introductory workshops held at the Burlington Puzzle Museum in Wisconsin.
Sudoku Masters is the creation of Loren Stocker, a Professional Engineer and daily Sudoku player living in San Diego. When Loren first discovered Sudoku in an Associated Press article, "Puzzle-loving Britons embarce Sudoku," he believed that there must be an easy way to solve these puzzles, much like you complete the corners and edges of a picture puzzle before you fill in the rest. It soon became clear that outside squares have no particular advantage over the others and there was something deeper at play.
Next, having invested time and money exploring virtually every Sudoku strategy guide, it became clear they were all pretty much copies of one another -- and most focused exhaustively on grouping "possibilities." Indeed, there are even techniques designed to eliminate "possibilities," that needn't be explored in the first place!
Frustrated with this arduous approach, Loren uncovered the power of stealth links and lines of force. This unique style of play permits players to attack most easy to hard puzzles without ever resorting to "possibilities," relying strictly on an "Air War." On the more difficult puzzles, selective "possibilities" are highlighted -- the "Ground War" -- uncovering key eliminations to permit the "Air War" to prevail.
